Here at Scaramanga HQ we are often asked about our bags being used as a leather camera bag and if so what is the best option and bag to use. Luckily for us our photographer Grant does just that! So in a rare event we asked if he could step from behind the camera to show us his camera bag and what he gets up to with it.
Grant has been our photographer for nearly ten years and so has tried and tested many bags over the years with his camera. His current favourite is our vintage flight bag. The bags hollow compartment makes it very easy to fit a camera bag insert into the main body of the bag while the side pockets are ideal for spare batteries, notebooks, filters and other small things a photographer on the go might need. Because the insert can be removed the bag can be used as normal for every other occasion.
'The flight bag is a great alternative for those who want a camera bag when it needs to be and a functioning bag when not. As opposed to a backpack the bag sits in a easy position to get access to your camera whenever you need to take a picture. Depending on the insert you have the bag can hold a camera body and several lenses and potentially a pocket camera/ hip flask (if you want a little treat at the top of a hill).
'Whilst I wouldn't recommend taking this bag out into very adverse weather with your equipment it's a really good choice for those who want to carry a camera on holiday or for a jaunt about the city or a day trip in the country . It's also a bit more subtle than traditional camera bags that scream 'I have an expensive camera in this bag'. The zip allows for a small padlock to be put on for extra security also.
