Inside Scaramanga - Behind the Business
Scaramanga is the place for Vintage Interiors and handmade leather bags.Find out what life is really like behind the scenes of one of the best vintage retailers in the UK. We caught up with our senior book-keeper Kelly Stevenson, to find out what a typical day at Scaramanga is like for her.
Name: Kelly StevensonAge: 44Job Title: Senior BookkeeperHow did you come to work at Scaramanga?: I was working as a bookkeeper in the motor trade and unfortunately the business went in to liquidation and I was made redundant, I was lucky enough to get another job straight away after their accountants contacted me to come and work for them. As much as I loved working in Practice, I am at my happiest when working in the industry. Applying for the position at Scaramanga was (one of) the best decision's I have ever made. I love it!!!
What is your favourite part of your job?: I love everything about my job… The most satisfying part is when everything reconciles, and if for some strange reason it doesn’t, the challenge to find out why.
What is a day in the life like for you at Scaramanga?: First Coffee! I will clear my emails and then start processing our sales/credits from all platforms then process any purchases, making any payments necessary, I will then reconcile the bank and cash equivalents, at the end of the month its time to start the management reports.
What keeps you motivated?: Due to the high volume of transactions, I need to keep on top of the sales and nominal codes, I challenge myself to make sure that by Friday, the accounts are reconciled, all ready to start again on the Monday
What do you love about the brand?: I love how down to earth the brand is and that our furniture is original and restored ready to be loved again.
What is your fav bag or accessory?: My favourite bag is the Bella, you wouldn’t believe just how much I can fit in mine. I love how over time the colour changes slightly, it just looks better with age. The lining is so pretty too.
Your favourite type of furniture we source?: My favourite furniture at the moment is the brick moulds, I recently just purchased a few, I use one for my cafetiere and coffee, one for my oil, sauce, salt and pepper, and the other for my facecloths in the bathroom. They are so versatile.
Stay tuned for the next in our behind the series coming soon.
