September is just days away, the younger children have new shoes and smart haircuts, and parents are sewing on nametags as if their lives depend on it. The new term has almost arrived for those still attending school, but for teenagers heading off to college or university, there’s still a couple of weeks to get organised. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite things for anyone beginning the next step in their education, whether they’re studying art or anthropology.
Vintage Leather Travel Holdall, £149.00
If you’re looking for a versatile bag to take to college or university, our vintage leather travel holdall, £149, is the ideal choice. Inspired by the iconic bowling bags from the 1970s, we’ve added retro styling to our usual tough buffalo leather to create a bag that will take you from the car to lectures in no time. With a huge main compartment measuring W45cmxH35xD22, you’ll be able to fit in luggage for a trip back home, or the many folders and books you need when attending lessons and seminars. There’s also a small internal side pocket, which is perfect for keeping your iPod or mobile phone to hand, and an adjustable 59” shoulder strap which means you can carry the bag either over the shoulder or across the body.
Red Leather Card Holder, £2.50
Going to college or university means that as well as studying a lot more, you’ll probably also be socialising a lot more, and as well as your bank card, you’ll also need to somewhere to keep your Student Union card and ID card. The Scaramanga red leather card holder, £2.50, is the ideal place – beautifully compact, it has space for three cards, and is made from the same leather as our vintage satchels and travel bags.
Large Leather Notebook, £25.00
Ideal for anyone who loves to write a lot of notes in lectures, or simply enjoys keeping a journal of their day-to-day life, our large leather notebook, £25, is a must when buying for the new academic year. 120 pages of handmade paper have been bound within a handmade leather cover, which is then rubbed with vegetable based dyes to add a beautiful antique feel. The thick paper, made from recycled cotton, is also perfect for anybody who loves to draw and sketch and can be used with most mediums, from lead pencils to colourful pens.
Leather Keyring, £2.50
If you’re fed up with having all of your keys rattling around in the bottom of your bag, or are concerned you might end up locking yourself out of your new shared house, then why not invest in a Scaramanga leather keyring, £2.50? Handmade from vintage leather, and measuring W13cmx4, it’s big enough to easily find in your bag, but not too big to fit into your pocket – a much better alternative than waking your flatmates up at 3am!
Leather iPad Cover, £35.00
A new term used to mean a new exercise book and sharp pencils, now notes are taken on laptops and lectures are recorded on tablets. If you’re looking to keep your iPad safe this year, the best thing you can buy is a cover or case, such as the Scaramanga leather iPad cover, £35. Made from the same durable leather as our satchels and travel bags, and with a lining option of red cotton or black fleece, nothing will protect your iPad more carefully or stylishly.
