Wooden Storage Chests
At Scaramanga, we specialise in authentic vintage and antique wooden chests and trunks. We get a lot of people asking; what is the difference between a chest and a trunk? A chest is basically a box used to store things. A trunk is also a box often made from wood or metal used to store things, but it tends to be moved from place to place. The terms are often interchanged. If trunks are being moved and used for travelling they usually need to be lightweight and portable and be capable of enduring wet and damp weather. Chests on the other hand can be more decorative and heavier. Over the centuries the styles of both have evolved. A simple chest, a box with a hinged lid evolved into a chest of drawers to make accessing contents easier. They become taller pieces of furniture with different-sized drawers for keeping different things. Trunks meanwhile became more sophisticated as new materials became available and technology improved.
What makes Scaramanga's wooden chests so special? At Scaramanga we have over 100 varieties to choose from which differ in colour, age, shape, size and material. Wooden chests and storage trunks are now essential piece of furniture in any home. They can be used in virtually any room to de-clutter a space and store some of your favourite objects or collectables. Carl, our founder, spends a lot of time searching for pieces from all over the world. Every piece is unique and has a story to tell. Each piece has been carefully restored by expert craftsmen so it will last for another generation. We want customers to understand that they are investing in a piece that will stand the test of time. We value the history and charm embedded within each and every one of our vintage chests and boxes. We carefully preserve the unique graphics on our boxes and time-worn patina. We work hard to keep as much of the aged character and patina as we can on each of our pieces, we believe that the rusted edges, vintage scuff marks and patina of age makes our collection extremely unique and attractive for any vintage fans.

This is an impressive large storage chest - they don't come much larger this wonderful Rajasthani teak red chest.
